This ultimate African bushveld bash is the perfect setting for any amateur triathlete to put their tri-skills to the test.
Note that the Ski-dam will closed from Friday 11 August @ 3PM until Sunday morning at 10AM due to the 5150 Triathlon swimming stage taking place at the ski-dam.
The bushveld host is a great triathlon setting and makes a great weekend get-away, as it is close enough for the large Gauteng triathlon community to travel to.
Athletes can choose between the Olympic distance and the all new FUNTRI distance.
For the Olympic distance, athletes swim 1.5km in the ski dam on the resort, bike 40km northbound on the hilly D10-Alma Road and run a flat, undulating 10km course inside the resort. Athletes must be 18 years and older to enter the Olympic distance.
This year we are introducing the new FUNTRI, especially designed for the younger athlete who wants a taste of the tri-world. The FUNTRI is open to athletes between the ages of 15-17 years. This course will see the young individual athletes take on a 400m swim in the ski dam, 20km bike course and finish the race with a 5km run in the resort.
The same FUNTRI distance is also open to teams. Teams consisting of two or three athletes, are welcome to enter for the FUNTRI. Team members must at least be 15 years or older to participate in a team (i.e. FUNTRI Teams are not limited to 15-17 years). No teams will be allowed to enter for the Olympic distances.
The Standard Bank 5150 Bela Bela Triathlon is a great stepping stone for any triathlete who wants to take up the next challenge of an IRONMAN 70.3 event.
